Webster Earns Big Ten Runner of the Week Recognition

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior/junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) of the University of Michigan women's cross country team was named Big Ten Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 12) for her winning performance at the Indiana Open last Saturday (Sept. 9) in Bloomington, Ind.

Webster recorded a time of 17:14 on the 5,000-meter course to finish 26 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. She bested a field of 60 runners, including 42 Big Ten competitors. The finish was her first career victory and the first time that she has led the Wolverines across the finish line. In her last eight races, Webster has finished as a top-eight runner five times.
Webster and the Wolverines will travel to Seattle Wash., this week for the Sundodger Invitational (Saturday, Sept. 16). The 6,000-meter race is scheduled for a 10:25 a.m. PDF start time at the University of Washington cross country course in Lincoln Park.
