Fellows Earns Big Ten Runner of the Week Recognition

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Sophomore/freshman Brandon Fellows (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) of the University of Michigan men's cross country team was named Big Ten Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 5) for his winning performance at the Michigan Open last Friday (Sept. 1) at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich.

Competing in his first collegiate race, Fellows finished ahead of the Michigan Open pack. The redshirt freshman completed the 10,000-meter course in 32:14, four seconds ahead of his teammate and second-place finisher redshirt freshman Sean McNamara (Elmhurst, Ill./York). Last season, Fellows did not run unattached in any of the races during his redshirt year.
Fellows and the Wolverines will have this week off before they travel to East Lansing, Mich., for the Spartan Invitational (Friday, Sept. 15). The men's race is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time at the Forest Akers East Golf Course.
