Biewald Earns Big Ten Runner of the Week Recognition

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Sophomore/freshman Jennie Biewald (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest) of the University of Michigan women's cross country team was named Big Ten Conference Runner of the Week Tuesday (Oct. 9) for her winning performance at the Michigan Intercollegiate Friday (Oct. 5) in Rochester, Mich.

Biewald recorded a time of 14:40 on the 4,000-meter course, finishing five seconds ahead of the next fastest runner, sophomore/freshman Rachel Severin (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea), to record Biewald's first collegiate victory. This is Biewald's first careeer conference award.
Beiwald and the No.13-ranked Wolverines will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., this week for the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday (Oct. 13). The women's "blue" race is scheduled to start at 12:20 p.m. followed by the "white" race at 12:55 p.m.
