PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced live on the Big Ten Network Monday night (Nov. 19) the 2007 All-Conference Teams and the individual award winners. Four U-M offensive performers earned All-Big Ten first team and four Wolverines collected second-team accolades.
Senior left tackle and co-captain Jake Long (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer East HS) was named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year by the conference coaches for the second straight season, becoming the first Wolverine offensive lineman to accomplish the feat twice in his career. Long is just the sixth player in league history to receive the honor twice. He was named All-Big Ten first team by the coaches and media for the second consecutive season.
Long is joined on the first team of both ballots by senior left guard/center Adam Kraus (New Orleans, La./Brother Martin HS) and junior wide receiver Mario Manningham (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding HS). Both players earned All-Big Ten first team honors last season also.
The team's final first-team selection was senior quarterback Chad Henne (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson HS), earning the nod on the coaches ballot. Henne was a second-team honoree by both the coaches and media last year. He also was named Michigan's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Senior tailback Mike Hart (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga Central HS), the conference's top rusher in overall play, earned second-team accolades by both the coaches and media, despite missing three-plus league games due to injury. Hart was a first-team selection in 2004 and 2006.
On defense, fifth-year senior linebacker Shawn Crable (Massillon, Ohio/Washington HS) and senior safety Jamar Adams (Charlotte, N.C./Butler HS) received second-team All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season. Both players earned all-conference second-team accolades from the coaches last year.
Junior nose tackle Terrance Taylor (Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon HS) collected a second-team nod from the conference coaches and received honorable mention from the media.
Sophomore offensive guard Justin Boren (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North HS) and fifth-year senior safety Brandent Englemon (Covington, Ky./Holmes HS) were honorable mention selections by the coaches and media. Junior cornerback Morgan Trent (San Diego, Calif./Orchard Lake St. Mary's HS, Mich.) earned honorable mention from the coaches and senior linebacker Chris Graham (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central HS), senior defensive end Tim Jamison (Riverdale, Ill./Harvey Thornton HS) and senior defensive tackle Will Johnson (Oakland, Mich./Lake Orion HS) gained honorable mention
