PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior quarterback Chad Henne (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson HS) of the University of Michigan football team was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his play in the 28-24 comeback victory at Michigan State Saturday (Nov. 3), the Big Ten Conference Office announced Monday (Nov. 5). Henne earned his first career player of the week honor after he directed the victory with two touchdown passes in the final seven minutes of the contest.

After missing the previous game with a shoulder injury, Henne tossed four touchdown passes against the Spartans to tie the Michigan single-game record. It was the third time that the senior quarterback has thrown four touchdowns in a game and the second time he has done it against Michigan State.
Henne was 18-for-33 for 211 yards, including the two touchdown strikes in the last seven minutes of the game to overcome a 10-point deficit to the Spartans. He engineered a 48 second scoring drive with 6:47 left to go, ending with a 14-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Greg Mathews (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS). Henne completed 5-of-6 passes for 53 yards and the score on the drive that pulled the Wolverines to within three points, 24-21.
With 4:28 on the clock, Henne led a nine-play, 65-yard drive that consumed 120 seconds and resulted in the game-winning 31-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Mario Manningham (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding HS). Henne completed 5-of-7 passes for 76 yards on the winning drive, including two third-down passes.
Henne was named the Chevrolet Player of the Game for his performance against the Spartans. He finished his career with 14 passing TDs against MSU, the most he's tossed against one opponent during his career.
Henne is tied for the league lead in touchdown passes in Big Ten play, with 11 despite missing nearly two and a half games due to injury. He has the highest completion percentage in the Big Ten at 65.8 percent. Additionally, he possesses an 11-2 touchdown to interception ratio in conference action.
In his career, Henne is 789-of-1309 (60.3 pct.) for 9,246 yards and 84 touchdowns. He owns Michigan career touchdown record and is second in passing yards, only eight yards behind former Michigan quarterback John Navarre (2000-03).
Michigan will look to build on its eight-game win streak against Wisconsin Saturday (Nov. 10). The game will be televised nationally by ESPN starting at noon EDT from Camp Randall Stadium.
