FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Freshman forward Max Pacioretty (New Canaan, Conn.) of the No. 4-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team earned CCHA Rookie of the Week honors, the league released on Monday (Dec. 3). Pacioretty tallied two goals and an assist last weekend vs. Ohio State to earn his second Rookie of the Week award in three weeks.
Pacioretty posted a career-high two goals, including the game-winner, in U-M's 4-2 win over the Buckeyes on Dec. 1. The previous night (Nov. 30) he had one assist.
The freshman had the primary assist on U-M's first goal in a 3-2 loss to Ohio State in the series opener. In the finale, he scored a first period power-play goal, which proved to be the deciding marker in the game, and later scored on a two-on-one break. For his efforts, he was voted as the game's No. 1 star.
Pacioretty is fourth on the Wolverine roster in points with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. He has points in 11 of the last 12 games.
Pacioretty also won the CCHA Rookie of the Week award on Nov. 19 for his 1-3-4 output in two games at Lake Superior State. Michigan has had at least one CCHA Player of the Week in five consecutive weeks.
Michigan concludes its first half of the 2007-08 season with a home-and-home series against Bowling Green Friday and Saturday (Dec. 7-8). Friday's opener will be in Bowling Green, Ohio, and begin at 7:05 p.m. Saturday's contest will take place at Yost Ice Arena and start at 7:35 p.m.
