MIAMI, Fla. -- Two former Wolverines -- linebacker Cato June and cornerback Marlin Jackson -- claimed their first Super Bowl championships as the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears, 29-17, in Super Bowl XLI held Sunday evening (Feb. 4) at Dolphins Stadium. The duo helped the Colts defense limit the Bears to 265 offensive yards and forced five turnovers (three fumbles, two interceptions) by the Chicago offense.
June, the team's leading tackler in the regular season and playoffs, was second on the squad with seven total tackles (five solos) in the championship game. Jackson contributed two solo tackles against the Bears, including a stop that forced an unsuccessful fourth-and-nine try by Chicago late in the fourth quarter.
Brian Griese, the Bears' backup quarterback, did not see game action in his second Super Bowl appearance as a player. Griese returned to his hometown of Miami to participate in Super Bowl XLI.
