Plitzuweit Becomes First Member of Borseth's Staff

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan director of athletics Bill Martin announced Tuesday (April 10) that Dawn Plitzuweit has been hired as associate head coach of the University of Michigan women's basketball program. Plitzuweit is the first member of new head coach Kevin Borseth's staff. Borseth was named the program's eighth head coach today.

"Bringing Dawn to Michigan as the associate head coach brings another experienced, winning coach to our program," said Martin. "She has already proven herself as a head coach, having won an NCAA national championship at the Division II level with Grand Valley State. To have Dawn join us gives our women's program two coaches on the staff with head coaching experience."
Plitzuweit recently completed her fifth season as head coach at Grand Valley State (2003-07). She guided the Lakers to a record of 117-39, including a 68-22 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). During Plitzuweit's fourth season in 2005-06, GVSU claimed its first NCAA Division II national championship in addition to the program's second-ever GLIAC and Great Lakes Region tournament titles.
Prior to her post at Grand Valley State, Plitzuweit served as Borseth's top assistant and chief recruiter at Wisconsin-Green Bay for four seasons (1999-2002). Plitzuweit was a four-year starter on Borseth's Michigan Tech team (1991, '93-95), leading the Huskies to a 100-21 record while gaining All-GLIAC first-team honors in three straight seasons. Upon her graduation, Plitzuweit was a part of Borseth's coaching staff at MTU from 1996-97. She spent one season as an assistant coach at Wisconsin (1998) before heading to UW-Green Bay.
