EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Senior Brianna Broderick (Richmond, Mo./Richmond HS) of the University of Michigan women's golf team was named to the 2007 All-Big Ten Conference second team, while fellow senior Ali Stinson (Penticton, British Columbia/Penticton Secondary) was awarded the Big Ten Sportsmanship Honor at the postseason awards ceremony Sunday (April 29) following the Big Ten Championships at Michigan State's Forest Akers West Course.
Broderick -- an All-Big Ten first team selection in 2005 -- became just the second Wolverine in the history of the women's golf program to become a multiple all-conference selection, joining Laura Olin (2002-05), who was a first team selection in 2005 and a second team in 2004. Broderick is one of eight Wolverine golfers in program history to receive the conference honor.
Broderick has had an outstanding U-M career. She has not missed a single career tournament, starting 46 straight for the Maize and Blue. Broderick has averaged a career-best 75.41 strokes per round, having twice fired a career-best round of 70 this season. She finished as the top Wolverine in six-of-11 tournaments this season.
Throughout her career, Broderick has helped the Wolverines to nine team titles, including two individual titles of her own throughout her career. She also ranks second all-time in the U-M record books with a 77.16 career scoring average.
Broderick, Stinson and the rest of the Wolverines will now wait to see if they have earned a team or individual bid to the NCAA Central Regional The Maize and Blue will host the Central Regional at the U-M Golf Course Thursday through Saturday (May 10-12).
