ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In the midst of his first Michigan-Michigan State rivalry week, Rich Rodriguez met the normal media contingency prior to practice on a perfect fall afternoon in Michigan -- sunny skies with a little crispness in the air and fall colors on the trees. This weather will not do much in the way of preparing the Wolverines for Saturday though, when there is a 50 percent chance of rain, a high of 52 degrees and a late kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The game is bound to be a classic Big Ten showdown in the elements.
Coach Rodriguez confirmed that junior Brandon Minor will be his starting running back on Saturday. Even after having his best performance of the season, Rodriguez commented that Minor is looking even better this week. Redshirt freshman quarterback Steven Threet will also be starting against the Spartans and is doing better as his right elbow continues to improve from a two-week-old injury.
This weekend will feature Michigan footballs annual chili and cornbread alumni reunion which dates back to 2003. Former football players of all ages gather at the Mortensen Plaza just off the Michigan Stadium concourse for some pre-game festivities. Afterwards, they head down through the tunnel where theyll line the field with the GO BLUE banner and welcome the 2008 Wolverines as they run onto the field.
