Williams Earns Big Ten Runner of the Week

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Lex Williams(Ann Arbor, Mich./Dexter HS) of the University of Michigan men's cross country team was named Big Ten Conference Runner of the Week Tuesday (Sept. 2) after winning the 10,000-meter race at Michigan Open this past Friday (Aug. 29) at the Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. The award is his first career weekly conference honor.
Williams, whoimproved froma fifth-place showing in 2007,was the first of seven straight Wolverines to cross the finish line, clocking in at 31:40.
The Maize and Blue will return to regular-season action this Friday (Sept. 12) when it heads to East Lansing, Mich., for the 2008 MSU Invitational.
