ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team's home game against Miami University tonight (Friday, Jan. 9) has been postponed until Sunday (Jan. 11) at 4 p.m., but Saturday's game is still scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
Yost Ice Arena suffered weather-related damage during the recent snow and wind storms over the holidays. U-M is working with independent structural engineers to make repairs.
"After a discussion with our engineers late this afternoon, we are extremely confident that we are going to play in front of a sellout crowd at Yost Ice Arena on Saturday night," said associate athletic director Bruce Madej. "Safety was our first and foremost thought when we postponed tonight's game; it had to done."
Tickets from tonight's game will be honored at Sunday's rescheduled contest.
"We apologize for this inconvenience, but the safety of our fans is of the utmost importance," said executive associate athletic director Mike Stevenson.
