Every week, MGoBlue.com's Brad Rudner and Scott Brimacombe will sit down with a different member associated with the Michigan men's basketball program for 10 questions, called "The Weekly Ten". Scott will come up with the questions and Brad will get the answers.
This week, we sit down with freshman guard Matt Vogrich to talk about his adjustment to college life, his 5-for-5 three-point performance against Northern Michigan earlier this season and his love for the Chicago Bears.
Check back every week all season long for more installments!
10. Your first semester of college is behind you. What did you learn about yourself?
"A lot of ups and downs -- learned a lot about the teams, academics and the university. I just have to stay poised, forget about the past and move on."
9. How many three-pointers do you attempt (on average) during a normal practice? Make?
"I don't know. We do a lot of shooting drills and scrimmages. On average, I would say maybe 100? I have no idea how many of those I make."
8. What parts of your game are you working on the most right now?
"My [ball] handle, probably, and getting stronger. Those are the two things that everybody keeps telling me I need to improve on."
7. What do you do in your spare time, when not on the court?
"When you play collegiate basketball, you don't have a lot of spare time to do anything, but when I do have some time, I study. I don't want to get Cs. This summer, I went golfing a lot."
6. If I gave you a ticket to go see any musical artist or band in concert, who would you want to go see?
"Eminem. I don't know why. Got a feeling he puts on a good show."
5. That game against Northern Michigan, your collegiate debut, you go 5-for-5 from three. How did it feel to start your college career on such a hot streak?
"After I made my first two, I didn't think I was going to miss. I was having one heck of a time out there. It was a surreal experience. Not only am I playing in my first collegiate game, but I'm making every shot I took. It was fun."
4. What visiting arena are you most looking forward to playing in during the Big Ten season?
"Assembly Hall in Champaign. It'll be fun. I know a lot of those guys on the team, like [Illinois freshmen] Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson."
3. Being from Chicago, do you prefer deep-dish pizza or a Chicago style hot dog?
"Deep-dish pizza, without question. Gino's East is awesome."
2. Is there a professional team across any sport that you follow closely?
"The Bears. I'm a big football fan. I do fantasy [football] with my friends from home. I love the Bears. Too bad nobody can play quarterback for them."
1. What is your New Year's Resolution?
"Play better defense. It's got to be basketball-related. I'm just trying to see more of the floor."
DOUBLE BONUS
Will you ever let Zack Novak cut your hair again?
"He's learning; he'll be alright. Outside of that one little spot in the back, I think I look alright. He can cut it again. I'd like to cut his hair, but he won't let me!"
