FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Freshman right wing Chris Brown (Flower Mound, Texas) of the University of Michigan ice hockey team earned CCHA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday (Dec. 7). Brown had a goal and three assists in U-M's two-game split at Ohio State last weekend (Dec. 4-5).
Brown had a goal and an assist in U-M's 5-3 loss on Dec. 4. His tally tied the game at 2-2 in the second period and assist brought Michigan to within a goal, 4-3, late in the third period. The following night (Dec. 5), Brown assisted on both of U-M's power-play goals in a 2-1 win over the Buckeyes.
Brown is first among his fellow Wolverines with five multiple-point efforts after posting two points in each game at Ohio State and is tied with left wing Carl Hagelin (Sodertalje, Sweden) for the team lead in points (15). Brown's eight assists are equal to those of center Matt Rust (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), with whom he shares the team lead. Lastly, Brown has a team-best +5 plus/minus rating.
Brown was the CCHA Rookie of the Week back on Nov. 2 after tallying two goals and an assist during U-M's sweep of Lake Superior State.
The Wolverines wrap up their first half of the season this weekend when they play a home-and-home series against Notre Dame. Michigan welcomes the Fighting Irish to Yost Ice Arena on Friday (Dec. 11) for a 7:35 p.m. faceoff. U-M then heads to South Bend, Ind., on Sunday (Dec. 13) for a matinee game that will begin at 4:05 p.m. Both contests will be televised by Comcast on channel 900.
