Brandin Hawthorne, a 6-0, 197 pound linebacker from Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Fla., recorded 113 tackles, 48 tackles for loss, 27 sacks and six forced fumbles his senior year, helping his team toits thirdconsecutive class 2B state title. He is a three-star prospect and Palm Beach Post small schools Defensive Player of the Year. Hawthorne was high school teammates with Wolverine wide receiver Martavious Odoms and enters U-M with prep teammate Vincent Smith. Hawthorne enrolled at U-M in the winter semester and is in the School of Kinesiology.

The quarterback rolled out to the left and broke down everyone on that side and then ran at me. When I hit him, he fumbled and we recovered.
