The 19 runs scored by the UWM Panthers mark the most allowed by the Wolverines since a 20-7 loss at Florida (Feb. 26, 2004).
U-M head coach Rich Maloney heads into Saturday's (Feb. 28) doubleheader at Jacksonville needing two wins to reach 500 career coaching wins in his 14-year career.
Sophomore CF Ryan LaMarre had a career day, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI. It was LaMarre's first career four-hit game and first two-homer game -- he had three hits in a game four times in 2008. LaMarre is second on the team in hitting with a .385 average (10-for-26) and leads the team with nine RBI.
The homers by LaMarre mark the first two-homer game by a Wolverine since Zach Putnam (2006-08) hit two vs. Northwestern on May 15, 2008, and it is the first two-homer game at a neutral site since Kyle Bohm (2004-05) hit two vs. New York Tech at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, on Mar. 11, 2005.
LaMarre's career-best seven RBI are the most for a Wolverine since Derek VanBuskirk (2005-08) hit three homers and drove in nine runs in a 27-6 win over Michigan State on April 20, 2008.
Sophomore/freshman DH Jake McLouth collected his team-leading third home run. McLouth is hitting .370 (10-for-27) and ranks second on the team with seven RBI.
Senior LF Kenny Fellows, who leads the Wolverines in hitting with a .421 average (8-for-19), reached base four times with a single and three walks.
The top two hitters in the Wolverine lineup -- senior tri-captain 2B Kevin Cislo and junior/sophomore SS Anthony Toth set the table all game for LaMarre. Cislo was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks and Toth was 2-for-4 with two walks, and they each scored three times. Toth leads the team with nine walks in six games.
