
Pruitt Earns Trio of Top-10 Finishes at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Senior/junior Sean Pruitt(Cato, Wis./Valders) picked up three top-10 finishes to lead a contingent of athletes from the University of Michigan men's track and field team at the Kansas relays this weekend (Thu-Sat., April 16-18) at Kansas' Memorial Stadium.
Pruitt earned a top-10 finish on each of the three days of the competition. The Cato, Wis., native finished second in the shot put, fourth in the hammer throw and eighth in the discus.
Three Maize and Blue throwers finished in the top 10 in the hammer throw on the first day of competition (April 16). Pruitt led the way with a throw of 204-0 (62.19m) to finish in fourth place. Pruitt was followed by senior/junior Brendan Lodge(Narragansett, R.I./Bishop Hendriken), who finished right behind Pruitt in fifth place with a season-best throw of 193-4 (58.94m), while fifth-year senior Dan Bedoya(Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) finished in seventh with a mark of 179-11 (54.84m).
On day two (April 17), Pruitt earned his top finish of the three-day competition with a throw of 55-0 1/4 (16.77m) in the shot put to finish in second place.
Sophomore/freshman Robert Peddlar(Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Boys) competed in both the triple jump and the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash, finishing 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 47-5 1/4 (14.46m) and 27th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.00.
Pruitt's final top-10 mark came in the discus on the third day of the competition (April 18), when he earned eighth place with a throw of 165-3 (50.38m). Bedoya finished 17th with a mark of 146-3 (44.72m).
Michigan returns to the track next weekend when the team sends a contingent to both the Penn Relays, which will be held Thursday-Saturday (April 23-25) in Philadelphia, Pa., and the Hillsdale Relays, which will be held Friday-Saturday (April 24-25) in Hillsdale, Mich.
