Ashley Bauer (Grand Blanc, Mich.) - Women's Golf Bauer, a junior, became just the ninth Wolverine in program history to earn All-Big Ten honors after being named to the 2009 second team following the 2009 Big Ten Championships. In her third season, Bauer has started all 12 tournaments to extend her consecutive streak to 35 straight events, not missing a tournament in her three seasons in Ann Arbor. She leads U-M with a 76.20 stroke average during the 2008-09 campaign and has six top-10 finishes in 12 events. Overall, she has finished as the top Wolverine in seven events. Bauer just missed her second straight top-10 Big Ten Championships finish with her 11th-place, 313 total, leading U-M to a seventh place finish. As a result of a strong campaign, U-M earned its seventh NCAA bid in nine seasons and will compete at Ohio State from May 7-9.

Kevin Cislo (Novi, Mich.) - Baseball Senior tri-captain second baseman Kevin Cislo leads the Wolverines into Columbus, Ohio, for the final time in his U-M career this weekend when the Wolverines renew their storied rivalry with the Buckeyes in a three-game series to be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Cislo was 3-for-9 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored in last season's series versus OSU and looks to continue his hot hitting in 2009 this weekend.

Nikki Nemitz (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) - Softball Nemitz, a junior LHP, needs just one more strikeout to claim a share of the fourth spot on Michigan's list of all-time strikeout leaders, currently held by three-time All-American Sara Griffin (602, 1995-98), after fanning nine Wisconsin batters in a 10-0 shutout win last Saturday (April 25) to bring her career strikeout total to 601 over her three-year U-M tenure. With her weekend win vs. the Badgers, Nemitz improved to 20-5 on the season, becoming the first pitcher in Wolverine program history to register three consecutive 20-win seasons.

Tiffany Ofili (Ypsilanti, Mich.) - Women's Track and Field Ofili, a senior on the women's track and field team, leads the Wolverines to the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio, this Friday and Saturday. Last weekend, Ofili ran the year's third-fastest time in the world in the 100-meter hurdles en route to winning the special invitational race at the Drake Relays. Ofili, the only collegiate runner in the field, turned in a time of 12.82 seconds to better a field of elite professionals that included Olympians and former World Champions.

Bill Rankin (Traverse City, Mich.) - Men's Golf Rankin, a senior co-captain, leads the Wolverines into the postseason starting with the 2009 Big Ten Championships. Last year, a three-under 285 championship total helped Rankin close third individually, post the best individual finish since 1999 and earn All-Tournament honors, while helping U-M to fifth place -- the best team finish in a decade. So far this season, Rankin has started all 10 events, extending his consecutive streak to 35 as he has not missed a start in three seasons. He is averaging a career-best 73.56 strokes per round. |
