Alaska Series Notes
Michigan won its 20th game at home against Alaska. The Wolverines are 20-3 at home and 38-8-0 all time against the Nanooks.
Michigan's 6-0 win against Alaska was the largest margin of victory since Jan. 11, 2002, a 7-0 win at Yost.
Michigan has never lost back-to-back games to Alaska during the 46-game history that dates back to 1987. Alaska defeated U-M 2-0 on Oct. 9, 2009 -- the season opener for each team.
Team Notes
U-M improved to 6-4-0 at Yost Ice Arena, winning its fifth consecutive game on home ice.
Michigan stretched its overall winning streak to a season-best four games.
Michigan's first and second goals by Lee Moffie at 17:00 and Chris Brown at 17:27 into the first period were the fastest consecutive goals scored by Michigan this season. Brian Lebler continued the scoring at 18:23 to cap off three goals only 1:23 apart, also a season-best mark for the three fastest goals.
With three first-period goals, the Wolverines scored three times in a period for the ninth time this season. They achieved the feat not only in consecutive games but consecutive periods. U-M concluded its 6-1 win over WMU on Jan. 9 with a three-goal outburst in the third period.
U-M's power play has scored a goal in 12 of the past 13 games, including five straight. Michigan is 11-for-36 on the man-advantage in the last five contests.
U-M's penalty kill was perfect (5-for-5) for the second straight game and the 13th time this season.
The Wolverines' six-goal performance ties a season high for the second game in a row and the fifth time overall.
U-M's defensemen contributed to five of the six goals tonight (1-4-5) and have scored at least one goal in the past three games.
Michigan's record remains perfect (11-0-0) when leading after the first period.
U-M is 11-2-0 when it scores first.
Fourteen players recorded a point tonight.
Individual Notes
Brian Hogan posted his second shutout of the season and the fifth blanking of his career by making 17 saves. Tonight was his 40th career triumph. Hogan is riding a scoreless-minutes streak of 113:56 as he has not permitted a goal since the first period against WMU on Jan. 9.
Matt Rust set a career high for assists in a season. His 12 assists this season rank second-best on the team.
Brian Lebler scored two goals, the first one being the 25th of his career, to tie a career high for goals in a single game. Lebler has four goals and six points in the past four games.
David Wohlberg improved his point streak to four games (2-2-4) after tallying an assist in the third period. This ties his longest point streak, which was set earlier this season in November.
Carl Hagelin extended his point and assist streak to five games (3-7-10) with his feed on the first goal. He has points in 10 of the last 11 games.
Ben Winnett has two assist in back-to-back games. This is his fourth multi-point performance this season.
Tristin Llewellyn recorded the first multiple-point game of his career at Michigan with assists in the first and second period.
Lindsay Sparks continued to produce with a power-play goal in the third period. He has four goals and six points in the last four games.
