Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "Overall we knew it would be a tough game. We knew Ferris State would bounce back after losing three in a row. It was a close game. It's a 1-0 game, then it's a tie game and then it's a game of special teams. [There were] too many penalties to suit us. I think penalties decided the game. It was heartbreaking for our team after battling back from a deficit and tying the game in the last minute and a half. Then to take a penalty -- a senior defenseman takes a bad penalty -- and we can't kill it. It's a tough pill to swallow because we're right back in the game and we have the momentum."
On Bryan Hogan's play ... "Hogan kept us in the game. We got great chances and their goalie played well. Both goalies played. I didn't think we finished on our chances. We had two or three two-on-one [chances] and they had two or three two-on-ones. We have to play better than that. Did we have a good game, no. We had a chance to steal some points and we didn't do it."
U-M Senior Defenseman Chris Summers
On tonight's game ... "It was a really choppy game I think for both teams. Officiating aside, I think it was pretty even the whole game. You never want to blame one thing, but we didn't capitalize on all our chances. When we did capitalize at the end we found ourselves once again in the box and taking ourselves out of the game. It's the story of the year, but hopefully that's starting to come to an end."
On what enabled his power-play unit to score twice ... "Getting the puck to the net. That's the way our unit has always been the last few weeks here. Getting pucks to the net with traffic in front. [Brian Lebler] is a big body and [David Wohlberg] and A.J. Treais are really good with the puck, so they're going to get it to him. I'm confident he's going to put the puck in the net 99 percent of the time."
On Ferris State's second and third goals ... "It's one-on-one battles. I thought we did a great job last night winning those one-on-one battles and races to the puck. Tonight, we weren't quite there. And that's just a mental ability -- knowing that you're going to outwill the person that you're playing against. Tonight, we didn't have it and I think on those chances it was really exposed."
