
Michigan Sweeps Every Event in Exhibition With Indiana

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team won all seven events in a non-scored exhibition meet against No. 20 Indiana University on Friday (Jan. 8) at Canham Natatorium. U-M hit four NCAA consideration marks during the exhibition meet.
The Wolverines took the top four times in the 400-yard individual medley with juniors Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) and Jared Miller (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) going under the four-minute mark. Clary hit the wall in 3:54.38, while Miller took runner-up honors in 3:56.03.
Meanwhile, sophomore Dan Madwed (Stamford, Conn./Towson) won the 100-yard butterfly (48.46), while junior Neal Kennedy (Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska) finished runner-up in a time of 48.68.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, U-M continued its dominance, sweeping the top four spots. Freshman Evan Gregg (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) led the way, stopping the clock in 55.93 to take top honors.
In the final individual event, senior Alon Mandel (Netanya, Israel/Eldad) touched in 49.22, with fellow senior André Schultz (Sao Paolo, Brazil/Colegio Palmares) hitting in 49.54.
Michigan swept all three relays on the evening, achieving NCAA consideration marks in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:29.71) and 800-yard freestyle relay (6:41.92). In the evening's final event, the 100-yard freestyle relay, the Wolverines won in a time of 37.48.
The Wolverines and Hoosiers will square off in a scored dual meet tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 9). The teams will hit the water at noon in Canham Natatorium. Following the meet, Michigan's seven-member senior class will be recognized for its achievements and contributions to the program.
