Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's win and the weekend sweep ... "If you win the first game on the road you know the second game is going to be tougher and it was. We were fortunate to get the lead in the first period, but Bowling Green battled back and they were always in the game. You never felt like you were safe, even with a two-goal lead."
On U-M's three-goal outburst in the first period ... "It was huge, both teams are trying to get the edge. Obviously, taking the crowd out of the game I think is important. We're on the road and you don't want to play from behind. We were fortunate to get the lead, so I thought that was a big advantage. We played the whole game pretty much with the lead."
On the play of goalie Bryan Hogan ... "I thought he battled hard. Certainly with all the penalties that were called -- I can't tell you how many minutes we killed tonight -- but it had to be well over 15 minutes for the game. Hogan had to be one of our best penalty killers."
U-M Senior Center Louie Caporusso
On playing on the penalty kill and scoring shorthanded ... "I credit the coaches for having trust in me. I haven't been on the penalty kill since I've been here. Every time I get out there I just try to make the most of it and do whatever I can to help the team. It was pretty cool to get a shorthanded goal as well. That's something you have to learn. If you want to play hockey for a long time you're going to have to learn to play in the defensive end and play the PK, so I'm pretty excited about it."
On losing Matt Rust to injury and Scooter Vaughan to penalty ... "I looked down the bench at one point and I was like, 'Is there anybody on this bench right now?' it seemed like every time you got off that you were right back out there. Sometime that's good because you get into the swing of things, but it can kind of grind you down after a while. I think we stuck to our game plan and played defensively. We didn't get caught with two men deep. We wanted to make sure the puck stayed in their zone and every time we got over the red line we wanted to dump the puck in."
