Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "A tough game and a tough start for us. The first period is typically a good period for Michigan. I can't say it was a good period. I think we took four penalties in that period. We didn't really get any attack going. As the game wore on and you look at the shots and the attempts we were pretty even. Their attempts were much better than ours and their shots were more dangerous. [Shawn] Hunwick had to play well to keep the score close. He had to stop a breakaway, two-on-ones and close chances. We just didn't generate a lot of good scoring chances in the game. [Kevin] Lynch had one early that maybe could have made a difference. You want to get off to a better start and we played catch-up hockey all night."
On overcoming a slow start ... "You've got to start all over again and do what we came to do. You've got to take better care of the puck. You've got to play with a better sense of urgency. I thought they were the more determined team. They were stronger and harder on the puck than we were and that showed. They got the majority of the good chances and the penalties didn't help us. Aside from that, I thought they played harder than we did. They've got some skilled players, too. Let's face it, they're a real good team. They made some nice plays and they were good with the puck. We knew that coming in. They were leading the country offensively and they scored four here. They could have scored six or seven."
On Michigan's comeback attempt ... "You always have a chance. When you get one, you might get another one. It's not over until it's over. So we had a little bit going late in the third and that was good, but our team knows we're going to have to play a lot better right from the start. We cannot play from a 4-0 deficit."
U-M Junior Forward Luke Glendening
On tonight's game ... "It's disappointing to be down 4-0 in a game. I think we worked hard in the third period, but sometimes that's not enough. I thought we played hard, but four goals is a tough deficit to come back from."
On the third period ... "I think we started winning a few battles. We started skating a little harder in the third. You could tell there was some emotion, but there wasn't enough time in the game."
On the penalties ... "We shot ourselves in the foot again with penalties. It seems to be a common theme this season. Hopefully, we'll get more discipline soon."
U-M Junior Forward David Wohlberg
On his third-period goal ... "I figured I had to get [a goal] in eventually. I had a lot of chances that could have been goals. That one just got the bounce and I put it on net."
