ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior defender/midfielder Jackie Carron (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team earned a repeat selection to the ESPN Academic All-District 4 Women's Soccer second team by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be nominated for the Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore starter or significant reserve on her team with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.
Carron, a biology major who earned the same distinction a year ago, has been named team Most Valuable Player in each of her first three seasons at Michigan. An all-conference second team honoree as a junior, Carron has twice been named Academic All-Big Ten and earned the Distinguished Scholar award in 2009-10. She has started all 74 games over the last three seasons, ranking 13th in career starts and fourth all-time in minutes played.
Carron has a goal and an assist in 17 starts, helping the Wolverines to their first 10-win season since 2004. A two-time captain, she will lead the Maize and Blue into its regular-season finale on Sunday (Nov. 7) at 1 p.m. at Penn State. The match will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
