
Harmon Named Program's Director of Operations

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's basketball head coach Kevin Borseth announced the hiring of Raina Harmon as the program's director of operations. Harmon joins the staff after spending the past five years with the Think Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL).

Harmon was the director of athletics for PAL from 2009 until she began her appointment at Michigan on Monday (Nov. 22). She was promoted to director after serving as the assistant director for three-plus years (2006-09). Harmon managed a budget of $450,000 and coordinated the logistics for nearly 12,000 participants within the 11 leagues that the organization sponsors. She oversaw the girl's and boy's basketball, golf, cheerleading and girl's softball administration.
In addition to her service with Think Detroit PAL, Harmon was an assistant basketball coach at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit (2009-10). She also coached the Michigan Crossover AAU team since 2006.
Harmon worked on the Detroit Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 NCAA Final Four held at Ford Field. Harmon organized and managed the NCAA Final Four Dribble Event and helped recruit more than 4,300 participants for the NCAA Final Four special events.
She was a four-year letterwinner for the Central Michigan University women's basketball team (2001-04), receiving the 2003 Dee Pomerank Sportsmanship Award. In addition to her on court success, Harmon was the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board at CMU during the 2003-04 academic year.
Harmon earned a bachelor of applied arts in sports studies and marketing from Central Michigan in 2004. She received her master's degree in sports administration from Wayne State University in 2009.
