Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
Opening Statement ... "I was happy with the way the guys played today. It was a back-and-forth effort and Miami is a tough team. I was happy with Shawn [Hunwick's] goaltending and our offense being able to take the puck to the net."
On what's changed about the team from the beginning of the season ... "Team confidence. When you have some success, you get confidence. I liked our team when we were losing and I knew we could play better, and that was our challenge. I think we're playing better now as a team -- whether it's defensively, offensively, special teams, work ethic, faceoffs, you name it. We're taking care of business."
On focusing on the NCAA Tournament ... "We're focused on taking it one series at a time. Last weekend, we focused on Michigan State, this weekend we focused on Miami. To be honest, we haven't thought about the National Tournament."
U-M Junior Goaltender Shawn Hunwick
On the barrage of shots he faced in the second period ... "I felt the best that I've felt all year. I wasn't thinking I was just reacting."
On making big save before Michigan scoring run ... "I feel like that's happened a few times this year before. I think it gave the team momentum and our offense was able to capitalize on it."
U-M Junior Forward Carl Hagelin On playing with desperation ... "I don't think it's desperation -- I think it's level of will. We know we're a good team and we wanted to prove it to ourselves, it wasn't about making the tournament or not."
On the goals from his line tonight ... "[Kevin] Lynch and [Matt] Rust both played really well and did a great job rushing the net all night. Lynch is a strong player and is working hard."
