CCHA Tournament Notes
Michigan captured its ninth CCHA Tournament championship and is 9-6 in title games. U-M's other eight championships came in 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2008.
Michigan is the first team seeded lower than fourth to win the CCHA Tournament. U-M entered the sweepstakes as the No. 7 seed.
The Wolverines scored 28 goals in six CCHA Tournament games. Fourteen different players had goals and all 19 skaters that participated had at least one point.
U-M has allowed just nine goals in six games.
Louie Caporusso led U-M with seven goals and four assists in six CCHA Tournament games.
Louie Caporusso, Carl Hagelin, Steve Kampfer and Shawn Hunwick were named to the CCHA All-Tournament Team. Hunwick was the MVP.
Northern Michigan Series Notes
U-M is 7-0 against NMU in the CCHA Tournament and 2-0 in the title game. U-M also won in 1999.
Team and Player Notes
The Wolverines have struck first in eight straight games and are 22-4-0 when doing so this season.
After lighting the lamp twice, junior Louie Caporusso now has 20 goals on the season. Under head coach Red Berenson, Michigan has had at least one 20-goal scorer on its roster in 25 of the 26 seasons he has been behind the bench. The only exception came in the 2005-06 season.
Carl Hagelin upped his point streak to five games (3-5-8) with an assist. He has a point in 16 of the last 17 games (5-15-20). He leads U-M with 47 points.
Brandon Burlon has a three-game assist streak (0-3-3).
U-M is now 8-9-0 against ranked teams, winning four in a row and five out of six.
Louie Caporusso has a 10-5-15 line at Joe Louis Arena in 15 career games.
