Shimel posted an opening 80 in the gusty first round before rallying with a three-over 75 as wind died down, with 13 pars and two birdies highlighting the round.
Senior Min Yean Tan (Penang Island, Malaysia/Hills International College [Australia]) recovered from an opening 83 to post a Wolverine individual-round tournament-best 74 in the second round. She closed with 78 today to finish with a 235 and tie for 28th.
Sophomore Caramia Sitompul (Jakarta, Indonesia/Bradenton Prep Academy [Bradenton, Fla.]) and senior Jenn Cleary (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) were both a shot back of Tan, tying for 34th with 236 totals.
