PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan sophomore field hockey player Rachael Mack (Bromsgrove, England/Bromsgrove School) has been named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Tuesday, Oct. 18).
Mack scored both Michigan goals in its 2-0 win over sixth-ranked Penn State this past Sunday (Oct. 16), helping the Maize and Blue move into a tie for first place in the Big Ten standings. Mack scored in the 44th and 52nd minutes of play for her 10th and 11th goals of the season. She leads the team and is fourth in the Big Ten in goals and is fifth in the conference in points (24).
This is the second time that Mack has earned Offensive Player of the Week. She was the Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 13, 2010, when she scored three goals and added an assist in wins over James Madison and Central Michigan.
The seventh-ranked Wolverines visit East Lansing, Mich., to play Michigan State this Friday (Oct. 21) at 4 p.m. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network on Sunday (Oct. 23) at 4 p.m.
