Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "It's disappointing. We came up here to play better hockey than we played. Certainly didn't want to get into the penalty problems that we got into and put ourselves behind the eight ball. But that's the way the game was played and that's the way it was called. I liked our third period; I thought we got back in the game and we had the momentum, and then you give up maybe a soft goal and then we just couldn't get it back. But this is CCHA hockey. It's a battle every night. Every team is as good as the other team and you can't play the game from the penalty box. We lost a key faceoff that cost us a goal and little things like that make the difference in the game."
U-M Forward Travis Lynch
On the start to tonight's game ... "I think we were thinking about playing too much instead of just going out and playing our game. We were thinking about what we have to do next, thinking about the last shifts we made a mistake on. We just have to keep focused and keep going."
On the adjustment to Olympic size ice ... "It's a little adjustment. On the penalty kill you have to be tighter because they spread it out. You've got to make sure you're in shot lanes to block shots."
On the third period comeback ... "Sparksy (Lindsay Sparks) got us going. He came out of the box on that breakaway and really kicked things off for us. Then we just got a couple dirty goals, which really helped."
U-M Defenseman Greg Pateryn
On tonight's game ... "I thought we started off a little slow and maybe let the crowd get into us a little bit, but as the game went on I think our play really picked up. They were getting pretty chippy and it was kind of a grinding game more than a skill game. That's how it is sometimes."
