PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan field hockey freshman Aline Fobe (Aartsellar, Belgium/Onze Lieve Vrouwe van Lourdes) has been named the Big Ten Conference's Freshman of the Week, it was announced Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 25) by the conference office.
Fobe earned her second Freshman of the Week honor of the season after performing on both sides of the ball in the two U-M contests on the weekend. She helped a Wolverine defense that did not allow a shot in the 2-0 win over Michigan State on Friday (Oct. 21). Fobe had the game-winning goal in the 41st minute on a corner play from senior Bryn Bain (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional). Fobe then assisted on a direct corner against No. 2 North Carolina on Sunday (Oct. 23) that tied the game at two and had a defensive save in double overtime that kept the Wolverines in the contest.
Fobe also earned Freshman of the Week on Oct. 4 after scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Iowa.
This is Fobe's second rookie honor of the week. She was also named the National Freshman of the Week by Synapse Sports on Monday night (Oct. 24).
The seventh-ranked Wolverines will close the regular-season schedule this weekend at Ocker Field. Michigan hosts Indiana on Friday afternoon (Oct. 28) at 4 p.m.
