ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team (No. 11 USCHO/No. 11 USA Today/USA Hockey) fell behind by four goals to the Union College Dutchmen (No. 13 USCHO/No. 12 USA Today/USA Hockey) on Sunday (Nov. 27) and was unable to rally back, falling by a final score of 6-3 at Yost Ice Arena.
Alex Guptill (New Market, Ontario) and Mac Bennett (Narragansett, R.I.) tallied two points each for the Maize and Blue in the loss. It marked Guptill's third multiple-point effort of the season and his second in the last three games. Bennett has posted three assists in his last two outings.
Union marched out to a four-goal lead by the 2:26 mark of the second period, scoring three unassisted goals along the way. The Dutchmen had taken a 3-0 lead into the first intermission before netting their fourth early in the second.
Michigan got on the board midway through the second stanza thanks to a Phil Di Giuseppe (Maple, Ontario) power-play tally. The goal Di Giuseppe's seventh of the season and first since Nov. 12, tying him with Guptill, who later scored, for the team lead.
Alternate captain David Wohlberg (South Lyon, Mich.) made it a 4-2 game early in the third period with his fourth goal of the year and his first since an Oct. 27 match-up against Ferris State.
Union went on to net its fifth and sixth goals of the afternoon to break open a 6-2 lead, before Guptill put home the Wolverines' third and final marker. Guptill was on the receiving end of an ice-length pass from Bennett, springing the freshman all alone on Union goaltender Troy Grosenick for the score.
Shawn Hunwick (Sterling Heights, Mich.) made 30 saves, while Grosenick allowed three goals on 36 Michigan shots.
The Wolverines capitalized on their lone power play this afternoon. Union finished the contest 2-for-6 with the man-advantage.

Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. AKT (11:05 p.m. EST) starts at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.
