ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's tennis head coach Ronni Bernstein announced Thursday (Dec. 1) that senior Michelle Sulahian (Valley Glen, Calif./Campbell Hall School) has been selected to serve as team captain by her teammates for the 2012 season.
"It's a great honor being named captain," said Sulahian. "I am excited to lead this team and continue the success we have had over the years. We are all excited for this season, and I'm really looking forward to sharing this experience with my teammates."
A three-year letterwinner and Michigan's lone senior, Sulahian owns a career singles record of 62-34, including a 40-13 mark in dual competitions. She went 32-11 during her sophomore campaign; her 32 wins rank third on the single-season list. In doubles competition, Sulahaian is 66-31 over her collegiate tenure, posting a 34-11 dual record, including a 17-3 mark in Big Ten duals. She is 7-3 in singles this season and 8-3 in doubles.
The Wolverines will wrap up tournament action after the calendar flips to 2012, hosting the Michigan Invitational, Jan. 14-16, at the Varsity Tennis Center.
