Series Notes
Overall, U-M leads the series at 35-18-5.
This weekend marked the third sweep for U-M in Marquette. Michigan is 12-6-3 all-time at NMU.
Team Notables
U-M has won 11 CCHA regular-season titles, 10 of which have been outright. They have all come in the last 20 seasons.
Michigan was the CCHA's best defensive squad, allowing 57 goals in 28 games. U-M and Miami had been tied, but the RedHawks gave up one goal tonight.
U-M pushed its winning streak to a season-best six games.
Michigan notched its seventh shorthanded goal of the season, its most since 2007-08 (8).
The Maize and Blue allowed 16 shots on goal, the fewest this season.
Tonight was the fourth shutout of the season for Michigan. It was the first road shutout since Jan. 17, 2009, when Billy Sauer blanked Bowling Green, 1-0.
U-M completed the season with a 7-6-3 road record.
Michigan's defensemen contributed three assists, improving their season line to 23 goals and 66 assists.
Player Notables
Jon Merrill is the first rookie defenseman to reach the 20-point plateau since Jack Johnson in 2005-06. Merrill's 21 points (7-14-21) are 10th all-time by a U-M freshman defender. He had two assists today.
Among CCHA goalies that played at least 50 percent of their team's games, Shawn Hunwick finished first in goals-against average (1.95) and save percentage (.931).
Carl Hagelin finished fourth in the CCHA scoring race (15-22-37).
Hagelin posted the 10th two-goal game of his career tonight. He tacked on an assist for his fifth three-point night of the season.
Hagelin added to his team bests for power-play goals (7) and game-winning goals (6).
Matt Rust snapped an eight-game goal drought with his tally tonight. He had two assists for the fifth three-point game of his career. He was also a team-best +3 tonight.
Rust has two shorthanded goals this season and six for his career.
Chris Brown extended his career-best point streak to six games with an assist (4-3-7).
David Wohlberg tied a career best by scoring for a third straight game. He has two other three-game goal streaks.
Scooter Vaughan had two assists for the second time in his career. He has five multi-point games this season and six for his career.
Bryan Hogan made his first appearance since a win at Ohio State on Dec. 4, 2010. Hogan played the final six minutes tonight, making three saves. He was injured for most of December and January.
