Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's win ... "We knew there would be some ugly hockey out there and there was. I like the way our team started. Second period, they pushed back hard and they were the better team. We got lucky on that faceoff goal. It was a great faceoff win by [Louie] Caporusso and Brown. That gave us a two-goal lead. You knew they would come back in the third. We were playing pretty well and then they scored that goal. You knew that the game was going to come down to the last minute. We had to kill a penalty the last two minutes which is just about predictable, but we did it. That was a gutsy performance by our team on the road."
On playing in so many one-goal games ... "I think we can play in them. We don't choose to play in them. I'd much rather we had a bit of a spread in the score. There's not much to choose between our opponent night after night and Michigan. Fortunately, we're finding a way to win the games. It turns out [Chris] Brown's goal on the faceoff was the game-winning goal. We didn't score in the third, but we held on and won and that's the most important thing."
On the key to penalty killing in the final minute of the game ... "I think just grit. The other team's gripping their sticks too, trying to make a perfect play. We're just trying to get the puck out of there. It wasn't pretty hockey. Our defense they really had to bear down. Our two forwards got caught out there, Carl Hagelin and Ben Winnett, for just about the full two minutes. They did a great job, not giving up any great scoring chances."
On Louie Caporusso's injury status ... "I don't think it's going to be good. I think we'll find out for sure tomorrow. Right now the indications are it's a lower-body injury and I'm guessing he'll miss tomorrow night's game."
