ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics freshman Sam Mikulak (Corona del Mar, Calif./Corona del Mar) was honored Monday (Feb. 28) as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his outstanding performance on Saturday (Feb. 26) against No. 5 Stanford. This is Mikulak's second Freshman of the Week honor for the 2011 season, the last being for the week of Feb 7-11.

In the competition against Stanford over the weekend, Mikulak won the high bar with a season-high 14.65 and placed third on vault with a 15.85.

The sixth-ranked Wolverines are in action again this Wednesday (March 2) in Tempe, Ariz., against the Arizona State Sun Devils at 1 p.m. MST.
