Pair of Home Tournaments Highlight 2011 Spring Slate

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Two tournaments at Phyllis Ocker Field highlight the 2011 University of Michigan field hockey team's spring schedule, head coach Marcia Pankratz announced today (March 7). The Wolverines will compete for four weekends in March and April, including the home events on April 2 and 16.
The schedule begins on Saturday, March 26, when U-M heads to East Lansing, Mich., for an indoor tournament with Michigan State and Central Michigan. That tournament will begin at 11 a.m. in the Dem Hall Arena at MSU. Michigan will then host the first spring tournament on Saturday, April 2. The Wolverines face Michigan State at 9:30 a.m., Central Michigan at 10:45 a.m. and Ohio State at 1:15 p.m.
The Maize and Blue travels to Louisville, Ky., and Trager Stadium to continue the Longstreth Spring League on Saturday, April 9. Michigan faces Miami at 9 a.m., and host Louisville at 12:25 p.m. Michigan will stay in Louisville and play the Cardinals on Sunday, April 10.
The second home tournament will take place on Saturday, April 16. Michigan faces Central Michigan at 9:30 a.m. and Kent State at 2 p.m. The tournament coincides with the Wolverines' annual banquet on Friday, April 15.
The Wolverines ended the 2010 season with a 15-7 overall record, a 5-1 Big Ten record, a share of the conference's regular-season title and a Big Ten Tournament title. Michigan advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in school history, while three Wolverines (Meredith Way, Paige Laytos and Rachael Mack) earned All-America honors by the NFHCA.
