Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On adjusting to the goalie change ... "We had to. That is one of the things when you come to the rink when you haven't played in a long time are you really ready to play. I think (Adam) Janecyk gave us a good period and he had no idea he was going to play in this game. That is his job to be ready, and he was ready and I thought the team responded well for him."
On Jon Merrill's return from suspension ... "He gives us a top four defenseman. He was on the all-rookie team last year as a freshman. He was a big part of our team doing as well as we did. So to get him back on the team is obviously a big plus."
On David Wohlberg's recent offensive production ... "It is something that is welcomed. (David) Wohlberg is our leading returning goal scorer, but it didn't look that way for the first half of the year and it wasn't happening for him. I think he had one against Alaska and one against Michigan State, but it looked like a little glimpse of it. He could lead our team in goals, and as a senior maybe he should. Not that he will, but you never know, but I'm not surprised."
On LSSU's special-teams play ... "We did not get many chances to really move the puck. We turned it over on the first faceoff and they got a 2-on-1. We have to play better on the power play, but nevertheless they are a hard-working, aggressive team, but they don't take a lot of penalties. We are trying to be that type of team. We are not trying to play a penalty-filled game. That is probably what you are going to get."
U-M Senior Forward David Wohlberg
On having Jon Merrill back in the lineup ... "It gives a little spark. He's kind of that missing puzzle piece that we haven't had. And Jon is a great kid, he's gone through some tough times and now he's coming back and he's great. He showed it tonight, he picked up a couple of points, and he's just picked up right where he left off."
On the importance of Janecyk's performance in the third period ... "That's huge. You look at it the same way as when Hunwick came in for us a few years ago and guys played better around him. I think that raises the tempo and the level of the players on our team. We know Janecyk can do it, so it's not a matter of if he can, it's a matter of how good we're going to play for him."
U-M Junior Forward Chris Brown
On recent swing in momentum ... "I mean, we've won three games in a row now. We have one more tomorrow, but I think we're just confident. Everyone is playing well. We have good depth, we've got Jon (Merrill) back, Hunwick is playing great. So we are starting on the defensive end and moving to the offense, and I think everyone is just connecting right now."
