Molk, Hemingway Chosen in Seventh Round of NFL Draft

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- University of Michigan football center David Molk (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township HS) was selected by the San Diego Chargers (226th overall, 19th pick in seventh round) and wide receiver Junior Hemingway (Conway, S.C./Conway HS) was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs (238th overall, 31st pick in seventh round) on Saturday (April 28) during the third day of the 2012 NFL Draft held at Radio City Music Hall.
Molk joins former Wolverines Stephen Schilling (2007-10) and Jonas Mouton (2007-10) with the Chargers and Hemingway joins former Wolverine Steve Breaston (2003-06) with the Chiefs.
Molk (2008-11) was a four-year starter who opened 41 career games at Michigan. He received numerous awards for his play in 2011. The team captain earned consensus All-America honors after being named All-America first team by the Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Walter Camp Football Foundation and Sporting News. He also was named the Rimington Trophy recipient as the nation's top center, the Big Ten Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year and All-Big Ten first team by the media. Molk was a two-time recipient of U-M's Hugh R. Rader Memorial Award as the team's top offensive lineman.
Last season, Molk helped lead the Wolverines to an 11-2 record and Sugar Bowl victory over Virginia Tech. The U-M offense ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring (33.3 points per game) and rushing (221.8 yards per game) and third in total yards per game (404.7). Molk was part of a line that paved the way for two 1,000-yard rushers in 2011 in Denard Robinson (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) with 1,176 rushing yards and Fitzgerald Toussaint (Youngstown, Ohio/Liberty) with 1,041. It marked the first time Michigan had two 1,000-yard rushers in the same season since Gordon Bell and Rob Lytle in 1975.
Hemingway (2007, '09-11) started 31 of 48 career games at Michigan and totaled 88 receptions for 1,638 yards and 11 touchdowns. His six 100-yard receiving games rank tied for ninth in school history.
Hemingway led the Wolverines' receivers in 2011 with a career-high 34 receptions, 699 yards and four touchdowns. He had two catches, both for touchdowns, for 63 yards to earn Sugar Bowl MVP.
Molk and Hemingway become the second and third Wolverines to be selected in the 2012 NFL Draft. Defensive tackle Mike Martin (Redford, Mich./Catholic Central) was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third.
