TAMPA, Fla. -- Junior Nkem Ezurike (Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia/Sackville) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team was named an All-Central Conference selection on Monday (July 23) after spending part of the summer playing with the Laval Comets of the USL W-League. Ezurike lead the Comets in both points (11) and goals (five) despite playing in only seven of the team's 12 matches.
Ezurike will return to Ann Arbor to be with the Wolverines during the first week of training camp before heading to Japan to play for Canada in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, which runs from Aug. 19-Sept. 8. Joining Ezurike in Japan will be her teammate on the Canadian squad, junior Shelina Zadorsky (London, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas), and sophomore Christina Murillo (Ojai, Calif./Nordhoff), who will play with Mexico.
Michigan opens the regular season on Friday, Aug. 17, against Fordham at the U-M Soccer Stadium. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
