Michigan is 7-2-0 all-time against Detroit. The two teams last met on Aug. 20, 2010, with Michigan winning the match, 3-1, in what was the first match played at the newly renovated U-M Soccer Stadium.
Michigan won four home matches all of last season, going 4-5-1.
Eight different players have scored a goal for the Wolverines this season. The team has nine total goals in four matches.
Michigan has not started a season with four straight wins since 2002 when it started 5-0.
Michigan improves to 16-3-2 in home non-conference matches under Greg Ryan.
Fifth-year senior Clare Stachel started after missing the first three games due to injury.
Freshman Cassie Collins earned her first collegiate start at midfield.
Junior Tori McCombs came off the bench for the first time in her collegiate career. She previously started the last 40 matches dating back to her freshman season of 2010.
At the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan, Mexico (which has U-M sophomore Christina Murillo on its roster) defeated New Zealand, 4-0, to advance to the quarterfinals. Murillo started all three matches on defense for Mexico in group play. Mexico will face Nigeria on Thursday (Aug. 30) at 4 p.m. in Tokyo. Canada, which features U-M juniors Shelina Zadorsky and Nkem Ezurike, will play Korea DPR in the Group C finale on Monday (Aug. 27) at 7 p.m.
