• Michigan fell to 53-34-1 all-time at the Great Lakes Invitational and 10-5-1 all-time in GLI consolation contests. This marks the first time since the 2000 GLI that Michigan lost two games in the tournament.
• Michigan fell to 10-8-1 against Michigan State in the Great Lakes Invitational. The loss also snapped a three-game winning streak against the Spartans, as Michigan fell to 145-126-19 all-time against MSU.
• Michigan suffered its third outdoor loss in the modern era (beginning with 2001 "Cold War" game at Michigan State). U-M is 2-3-1 in outdoor games.
• The Wolverines allowed 40 shots for the fourth time this season but lost for the first time when doing do. Michigan is 3-1-0 when allowing 40 or more shots on goal this season.
• The shutout ended a streak of Michigan freshmen recording points in every game this season.
• U-M finished the night 0-for-1 on the power play, finishing without a power-play goal for the fourth consecutive contest. U-M is now 2-3-1 when scoreless on the power play.
• Michigan allowed its sixth power-play goal in the last five games, finishing the night 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. The Wolverines are now 56-for-70 (80.0 percent) on the PK this season.
• Steve Racine made 37 saves in his first loss of the season, dropping his record to 4-1-1. Dating back to the end of last season, Racine is 12-2-2 in his last 16 decisions.
