Michigan used the starting lineup of Shannon Smith, Nicole Elmblad, Cyesha Goree, Siera Thompson and Val Driscoll. The group is now 5-1 as a starting unit.
With a career-high five three-pointers, Siera Thompson has now hit at least one three-pointer in all 18 of Michigan's games. Her 44 triples on the season is the second-best mark for a freshman in school history.
U-M held a 33-29 halftime lead, moving to 13-0 when leading at the break.
Michigan outrebounded Illinois, 40-22, improving to 13-3 when outrebounding an opponent.
The Wolverines are 4-1 in Big Ten play for the second straight season.
Cyesha Goree went for 15 rebounds, her fifth straight game with at least 10 boards.
Michigan has now defeated Illinois four straight times. Illinois leads the all-time series, 39-27.
Val Driscoll recorded her ninth multi-block game of the season with two blocks today.
U-M had 18 assists on 20 made field goals, its highest assist total since going for 22 against Southern (Dec. 20).
With four players in double figures, U-M moved to 8-2 in those games.
Michigan wore its white uniforms for the third time this season, going to 3-0 in white.
