McAtee Named National, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior/junior midfielder Colin McAtee (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) of the University of Michigan men's soccer team has been named College Soccer News National Player of the Week as well as Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his four-goal performance in wins over No. 6 Notre Dame and Rutgers, the conference announced Monday (Oct. 13).
Against Notre Dame, McAtee scored a trio of goals as U-M knocked off No. 6 Notre Dame on Tuesday (Nov. 7) by a 3-2 count in its first win over a top-10 opponent since the 2012 season. McAtee followed up his splendid effort against the Fighting Irish with his fourth goal of the week in a 3-0 win over Rutgers. The hat trick for McAtee against ND is the lone two-goal match in the Big Ten this season.
McAtee now leads the team and is second in the Big Ten in goals with six. He also leads the team in points (12).
The conference accolade is the first of McAtee's career and the first conference Offensive Player of the Week for a Wolverine attacker since James Murphy (Oxford, England/Henry Box School) took home the plaudit on Aug. 31, 2013. He is also the second U-M player to be named College Soccer News National Player of the Week, as Justin Meram earned the accolade on Nov. 29. 2010.
U-M returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 14) on the road against Akron from FirstEngergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field at 7 p.m.
