Michigan's loss to UNH snapped a five-game unbeaten streak against the Wildcats (2-0-3) dating back to 1999. The last time the Wolverines lost to New Hampshire was March 27, 1999, when New Hampshire won, 2-1 (OT), in the East Regional Final of the 1999 NCAA Tournament in Worcester, Mass.
New Hampshire earned its first win at Yost Ice Arena. The Wolverines fell to 6-3-3 all-time against UNH and 2-1-1 against the Wildcats at Yost Ice Arena.
Michigan drops to 0-2 on the season, marking the first time the Wolverines have started a season with two consecutive losses since 1944-45.
Andrew Sinelli made his first start at forward since Nov. 22, 2013, against Niagara. Last season, Sinelli made the switch from forward to defense on Nov. 29, 2013, against Ohio State.
Goaltender Zach Nagelvoort made the start in net, his first home opener at Yost Ice Arena. Nagelvoort made his Michigan debut last season against UNH on Oct. 18, 2013. He made 15 saves in the third period and overtime of that game in relief of injured Steve Racine.
For the second straight game, the Wolverines outshot their opponent in the first period but trailed after one period of play. Tonight against UNH, the Wolverines had an 11-7 advantage on shots but trailed, 1-0, on the scoreboard.
Alex Kile scored the Wolverines' lone goal, at 16:12 of the third period, giving him points in each of Michigan's first two regular-season contests (G, A). Zach Werenski also has points in each of his first two games (2A), and Zach Hyman recorded his first point of the season with an assist.
