Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On positives from tonight's game ... "I think Andrew Copp said it well. We matched up well with this team, in a good environment. We took the lead; we had the lead in the game twice. We didn't capitalize on our chances, but our power play was good. We should have scored more on 5-on-5 chances. Copp himself had a breakaway in the first period. I think our team showed up. Our young players got good experience. We should grow. I think both teams will be better at Christmas than they are right now."
On improvement on blocking shots and on the power play ... "I think we improved a ton in shot blocking. You don't want to block too many shots. That means you're in your own zone too much. We're paying the price to get in front of the puck now. I think that translates into better team offense and better team effort. We held up well on faceoffs as the game went on."
U-M Sophomore Forward Alex Kile
On what he thought the difference in the game was ... "Honestly I thought the difference was a couple of those goals called off or called on. Both teams showed great effort in the third period, and we just didn't get the bounces."
On the success of his line ... "Right now it's our chemistry. We've been together for a month and a half now. I said this before; we're great friends off the ice. We talk about how we can contribute each and every night. Right now we're clicking, and we're hoping that continues."
U-M Junior Forward Andrew Copp
On what he thought the difference in the game was ... "I think we felt we deserved more out of tonight's game. I think we did a solid job, probably one of our best games of the year so far in terms of how we played and dictated the pace. There are a few things that didn't go our way that we think should have. But at the end of the day I think we had some chances to put the puck in the net and we didn't, and we let up a little defensively."
On positives that can be taken from this game ... "I think our power play is clicking really well. Jack Eichel, for all he is, and he is a great player, he didn't really do much. He had that one tip-in goal from the corner, and that kind of weird bounce goal. We did a good job against him. Our defense played well. We were breaking out well. We were getting behind their defense, getting pucks into their zone, dictating well down low. I mean we played a pretty good game tonight. We couldn't bury some 5-on-5 chances, and our defensive zone play got a little bit away from us. But other than that, we played a really solid game."
