Michigan defeated Maryland in the first-ever meeting between the two programs and the first match between the Wolverines and Terrapins in Big Ten play.
Michigan earned its fifth shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Megan Hinz has earned four of those shutouts, including today's, while Taylor Bucklin recorded the other.
Michigan outshot Maryland, 12-5, and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks. U-M is 5-0 this season when outshooting its opponent.
Goalkeeper Megan Hinz earned her sixth win and fourth shutout of the season. She has allowed just two goals through three games in Big Ten play.
Madisson Lewis scored her third goal of the season, including second game-winner. She now has nine career goals.
Ani Sarkisian tallied her fifth assist of the season on Madisson Lewis' game-winning goal. She continues to lead the team with 13 points on four goals and five assists.
