
Way Selected Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Freshman Emma Way of the University of Michigan field hockey team was named the Big Ten Conference's co-Freshman of the Week after posting the game-winning tally in the Wolverines' win against Ohio State, the league office announced Tuesday (Nov. 3). Way shares the honor with Indiana goalkeeper Noelle Rother.
Way scored U-M's first goal in the regular-season finale against the Buckeyes last Saturday (Oct. 31), knocking in a penalty-corner rebound at 11:29 for her third goal of the season and second in as many games. The Wolverines added two more goals in the second half and held OSU to just one total shot.
Way in the first Wolverine rookie to earn a weekly accolade from the conference office this season. Michigan boasted six of 10 defensive nods and one offensive honor through the regular season.
The Wolverines will kick off postseason play at the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday (Nov. 5) against Iowa at 3 p.m. at the IU Field Hockey Complex in in Bloomington, Indiana. The game will be aired live on the Big Ten Network.
