CHANDLER, Ariz. -- University of Michigan field hockey graduate student Mackenzie Ellis has been added as a participant for the 2015 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game after accepting an invitation to compete on Monday (Nov. 9). She joins fellow Wolverine senior Lauren Thomas, whose selection had already been announced, among the 38-player lineup.
Coinciding with the 2015 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship, Michigan will host the annual competition on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2:30 p.m. EST from Phyllis Ocker Field. Any individual whose team makes the final four will not participate in the all-star contest, which is slated the day between NCAA semifinals and championship game.
Ellis, a three-year mainstay in the Wolverine backfield, has enjoyed a senior year in her final collegiate season. After entering the season with no points, she ranks among the Wolverines' scoring leaders with four goals and a team-best four assists. She has also contributed to a defensive unit that boasts 10 shutouts and a 0.97 goals-against average and has only allowed eight shots per game this season.
The Wolverines will kick off NCAA Tournament play this weekend, heading to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where they will face Wake Forest in the first round at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 14) at the Tar Heels' Francis Henry Stadium.
