Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On his concerns about tonight's game ... "We didn't start well, obviously. Their first power play they scored. As soon as they scored they started to take over the play. I thought we played pretty well in the first 6-7 minutes, and then they just took over the game from there on. We weren't very good, and they were really good."
On the team's slow start to the second period ... "The first five minutes of the second period we never got out of our zone. They were all over us. We were trying to push back, and we couldn't get out of our zone. They were the better team. It was as simple as that. They were better with the puck and better without the puck. This was not a good game for Michigan."
On Kyle Rau's performance ... "They've got a number of forwards like that, just like we do. He showed up and had a great game tonight. That's what you have to watch for. We have to play better defensively than we did. They had too much puck possession time. They had too many scoring chances, and they had all the momentum. So it was their game."
U-M Sophomore Forward Tyler Motte
On team's slow start in second period ... "We were trying to regroup after the first, come out strong in the second, and through ten minutes I think we were down in shots 10-1. That's not the bounce back we were looking for. It's something we'll move forward with, work on, and we know we've got to come out stronger."
On the difficulty of playing in a hostile environment ... "The ice is always a big thing coming in here for every team. The atmosphere was pretty good tonight as well. But once they get rolling they don't stop. It was kind of an uphill battle for us. We were behind the eight ball pretty early there. It was an uphill battle that we lost tonight, but like I said we'll regroup and come back tomorrow night."
Junior Forward Cristoval 'Boo' Nieves
On his performance tonight ... "I was lucky enough to get two good bounces to get back on the score sheet. But overall it's just a tough night because it's not about me getting back on there, it's about our team. We've got to get back at it because this whole weekend is important. So tomorrow night's game, it's got to be different."
On getting his first goals since November ... "It's nice. As a team we weren't great, but individually it's nice to get back on the scoring sheet, and hopefully it can boost me and help boost other players to get back to where we need to be going forward."
